Pastor Seye Kosoko

Seye is the Head of Legal for Nigeria and west Africa, and Company Secretary, Nigeria at Standard Chartered Bank, where he drives the legal framework for the bank’s businesses and operations across West Africa, mitigates credit risk and also provides company secretarial, governance advisory and executive managerial support for the bank.

With over 30 years experience in the legal profession, Seye is well respected in the legal profession in Nigeria across the corporate, commercial and private legal practice sectors. He facilitates various training seminars and is a much sought after conference speaker.

Following National Service as State Counsel with the Department of Public Prosecutions, Seye started his career as a pioneer lecturer in the Faculty of Law, Lagos State University (LASU), and taught law from 1986 to 1990, while also engaged in active law practice with one of the leading law firms in the country.

He joined Price Waterhouse as a Tax Consultant in 1990, where he helped to develop a tax planning practice and advising many multinationals in various sectors of the economy and the banking and finance sectors.

Seye left Price Waterhouse to join Citibank Nigeria (NIB), where he worked over ten years and rose to become the General Counsel, Company Secretary and Country Compliance Head, with oversight for Corporate affairs. At Citibank, he was privileged to be one of the pioneers of Compliance in Nigeria in the early 90s, and was involved in major transactions which contributed to the development of the Nigerian banking and finance sector.

On the advent of the telecommunications industry in Nigeria, Seye joined Econet Wireless Nigeria Limited (Now Airtel Networks), as the pioneer Chief Legal officer / Company Secretary, (with responsibility for the Legal, Regulatory and Company Secretarial Group) where he played a pivotal role in the development of the Legal and regulatory aspects of the telecommunications industry in Nigeria.

Seye left Econet to set up a full service law firm, Henley, Crankshaw Solicitors, where as Managing Solicitor, he advised various clients on major transactions across various sectors before he joined Standard Chartered Bank.

He is a graduate of the University of Ife (Class of 84’) and obtained his LLM from the University of Lagos in 1987. He is a member of the Nigerian Bar.

Seye is very passionate about Nigeria and African development and he enjoys music and is active in his local church.

He is a member of the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) and has served on the ACC Advisory Board since 2014.
